  1. I became briefly invisible at work.
  2. Nicky got sick.
  3. I came home and took munchins to the shop.
  4. A bogan on a motorbike gave me and some other cars the bird (I think we may have been driving only a little over the speed limit).
  5. I forgot about yard duty until it was much too late.

  Lesson for the day - for a rise there is often a fall.

  I was feeling OK this morning so I was a little surprised when breakfast didn’t hang around. After that I definitely felt ill so I rang Mark and asked him come home. I wasn’t up to wrangling the munchkins.

  When Mark got back I took myself off to bed and slept for about 4 hours. Now I’m sitting here eyeing a cup of tea warily and the rest of the family is off at the shops.

  I was looking for my copy of The Closet last night and it seems that I have lent it to someone. At the end of last term I went out to lunch with a small collection of teachers and I know I was talking about it then. Chances are excellent that I lent it to one of these people. I guess I could ask them all but I would feel slightly less thick if I knew where it actually was.

  Lesson for the day - this is why I try to keep records about things.

  I’m just as excited as a Tory with a blank cheque and a place ticket to South America. I just heard that Fig and Fee’s new baby arrived late last night. Her name is Neve Jessica and she is nine pounds one ounce. She continues the recent but fine O’Meara tradition of little sisters for noisy big brothers.

  Lesson for the day - good news is well worth waiting for.

  This evening I attended a function in the CBD where the mentoring project organised by the Later Lawyers’ Network was launched. There was a fantastic rollup of about forty lawyers and law students. The new mentors and mentees (I still struggle with that one) were introduced to the gathering and the purpose of the mentoring project was explained within the framework of the ongoing work of the Later Lawyers’ Network in Victoria. I counted the evening a great success.
