  Hello, and welcome to the One Minute Mark.

  This morning when Leila and I were over at the shops getting the paper, we saw Eilis and Drew

  on their way to the supermarket. I do like running into people that I know in the street; it makes me feel like I am in a French film. Since I was being all neighbourly, I invited them to pop over for a coffee later in the day.

  As you would expect, our house is a bit messy at the moment with all four of us being home all the time. Particularly at the back of the house, you can go about three feet without stepping on a toy, but that’s about it. So in anticipation of possible visitors, we did a small and slightly manic clean of the place.

  Once that flurry of activity was over, I set to choosing and laminating newspaper articles for next term. In some of my classes, the students are writing magazine-style articles (see them at red and green), and I wanted to give them some good examples to guide them in terms of content and style. The weekend magazines always have heaps of good stuff so there was lots of good articles to choose from.

  I finished this job only a few minutes ago, and now I’m quite tired. Perhaps a very quiet
  minutes will do me good.

  Anyhow, that’s the minute and I’ll speak to you soon.

  I have a confession to make. I’m spoiled – someone else in this household repairs all the tubes. So I’m unable to offer any help on the best way to do it. I do know that Mark puts a clamp on the patch and tube while it’s setting, though.

  On the subject of repairing vs replacing, we’ve ridden with many people who never repair their tubes. We’ve even gotten a few spare tubes that way since they just throw them away. I draw the line at four repairs though. I was somewhat dismayed to pull out my spare tube recently when I got a flat on the way to work to find it already had four patches on it. It’s stayed up OK, but I’ll be tossing it the next time I get a puncture.

  not wanting to be a pessi pants but just want too warn you..that at 100 days off being 4 piggy has re-entered the preference stage. it isn’t a preference for one over the other just the preference to pick “no i want THAT mum to do it, not YOU”

  • Leila and I are back from our bike ride. We went to a park perhaps three or four kilometres from home. #
  • Waiting for some apples pies to emerge from the pie maker. Then, of course, a little ice-cream and I'll be laughing. #
  • Have moved on to apple and raspberry filling. I am predicting a spectacular result. #

  I have had some difficulty coming up with a topic for today’s One Minute Mark. I could probably belt something out when we get home, but I don’t feel so inclined. Any waffle that I can produce today, I could just as easily produce tomorrow.
