I was chatting with a bloke on this morning’s ride who is moving back to Camden over Christmas. He and his wife both grew up there and they’re now going home after travelling all over the world (and Australia). They want to be close to grandparents and aunties and cousins. But he says he’ll miss Bendigo. It’s such a great place to live, says this jet setting cyclist.
This is not at all an attempt to sway Mark, but his post reminded me of this comment.
What does make somewhere a good place to live? I always hated Melbourne; was more than happy to leave it behind for Geelong and now Bendigo.
But what is it that makes a place special? Here, it’s stinking hot in summer, freezing cold in winter, the nearest decent research library is Melbourne. But at the moment, I wouldn’t leave for the world.
