I have been using free themes for my Wordpress sites for years now. There are some really lovely themes out there. However, most seem to have aspects of their design that don’t quite work for me. Still, something that mostly works is still terrific when it is free.
More recently, I have been eyeing off some software called Artisteer. This nifty software allows you to make themes for Wordpress. You can’t control every single aspect of the design with this software, but it allows you to build you standard blog with a header at the top, one of more sidebars, and a list of your posts. You can decide how big things are, the font, the colours, and so on. There are probably over one hundred variable that you can tinker with.
Although it was something of an indulgence, I bought myself the basic version of this today. It ended up costing me $A62 but, just today I have quickly and easily designed new themes for this site, Just Nicky, Finn’s blog, Leila’s blog, Red Space Rocket, Red Space Red, and Red Space Green. I am pretty sure this software has proven itself to be worth the price of two take-away dinners.
